Wings Over Kenya: Mara Wildlife & Diani Shores Escape

Your Kenyan adventure starts as you land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi. A SUNSHINE MARA SAFARIS representative will greet you, provide a brief overview of your safari and beach holiday, then transfer you to Wilson Airport. From here, you'll take a scenic flight to the Maasai Mara, enjoying aerial views of the Great Rift Valley unfolding beneath you. Upon arrival at the Mara airstrip, a short game drive will take you to your luxurious safari camp or lodge. Settle in and enjoy lunch before heading out for your first afternoon game drive. Explore the sprawling savannah, keeping an eye out for big cats and the magnificent Big Five. As dusk settles, return to camp for a peaceful evening under the stars.

Today is dedicated to discovering the wonders of the Maasai Mara. You have the choice of a full-day game drive, venturing deep into the reserve with a packed lunch to be enjoyed amidst the wild landscapes. Alternatively, you can opt for morning and afternoon game drives, which often provide the best opportunities to witness predators in action during their most active hours. During midday, you might relax at your camp, visit a local Maasai village, or take a guided nature walk. Your expert safari guide will lead you through the plains, tracking the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—along with wildebeest, gazelles, zebras, giraffes, wild dogs, hyenas, hippos, and cheetahs. You'll also visit the famous Mara River, a key crossing point during the annual wildebeest migration (July - October). As the day concludes, gather around a campfire for a sundowner.

Start your day with an early morning game drive, seeking out any wildlife you may have missed. This is also an excellent time to experience an optional hot air balloon safari for an unforgettable perspective of the Mara. After returning for a leisurely breakfast and checking out, you'll be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Diani (via Nairobi). On arrival at Ukunda Airstrip, you'll be met and transferred to your beachfront resort in Diani. Check in, receive a welcome cocktail, and enjoy the rest of your day at leisure by the ocean.

Wake to the refreshing Indian Ocean breeze and the gentle rustling of palm trees. Begin your mornings with a delicious Swahili breakfast. The next two days are yours to relax and enjoy the pristine Diani beach. Spend your time unwinding by the pool, strolling along the shore, or engaging in various water sports such as scuba diving, windsurfing, deep-sea fishing, or snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs.

Savor your final moments on Diani Beach with a morning walk or a tranquil yoga session, followed by breakfast with ocean views. Later in the day, check out from your resort and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Nairobi. Here, you will connect with your international flight home, carrying with you memories of Kenya's incredible wildlife and coastal beauty.
